Tax Accountant – Islamabad

This is an Islamabad based position reporting to the Manager Finance and primarily responsible for acounting, reporting and compliance with Pakistan corporate taxation including income tax, sales tax, excise duty etc; coordination with external tax advisors, BHPB group tax and Petroleum tax controllers team; provision of tax advisory on the business in Pakistan in coordination with internal stakeholders and external advisors.

Key activities include accounting and recording of current and deferred tax balances and preparation of current and deferred tax proffs; coordination with tax advisors on taxation issues; keeping current on the recent developments, and responding to notices and tax correspondence; preparation of Branch tax return and ensuring review and timely submission of the return to tax authorities; preparation of advance tax payments; coordination with HR in providing information to tax advisors on Expetriate staff; maintenance of tax forecast model and its alignment with the long term and short term economic models; electronic filling of various monthly / annual returns including WHT with relevant tax authorities ensuring that all statutory obligations are discharged on timely manner.

The applicant must be a Chartered Accountant having 3-5 years post qualification experience with an accounting firm in the tax department or in a similar position in the industry; must be able to demonstrate exceptionally strong tax accounting and tax law knowledge; highly organized and skilled in comprehending, advising and managing taxation related issues focusing on details; technical strengths should be complemented by superior interpersonal and communication skills and a high degree of IT literacy and experience of accounting software (e.g., GSAP)
